If you are anything like me, you have a lot of cleaning to do before Thanksgiving. I am having 30 people over (family and friends alike). I have 2 large dogs (german shorthair pointers) and little kids running around my house several days per week.
I thought that I would share some of my favorite, powerful and inexpensive cleaning recipes that will help you cut down on your cleaning time while saving you money that you can put toward your holiday meal.
1) Wood Floor Cleaner: 1/2 Cup White Vinegar, 3 drops orange oil essential oil, 3 drops lemon essential oil, 3 drops grapefruit essential oil, 2 drops tree tea essential oil and 1 quart water. Pour all ingredients in to a larger sprayer bottle and spray on the floor. Mop as usual. No need to rinse this and it will dry on its own. **A tip that I use is that I have a Libman spray mop (like a Swifer) except with this one, I can fill up the reservior with my own cleaners and not have to purchase Swifer's pre-filled ones plus the pads on the Libman are machine washable. This saves me a TON of money!** For the holidays you may want to add a few drops of cinnamon or clove essential oils in your cleaner also.
2) All Purpose Bathroom Cleaner: 1/2 cup baking soda, 1/4 cup white vinegar, 3 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil, 2 drops eucalyptus essential oil, 1 drop thyme essential oil, 5 drops each orange and lemon essential oils. Rub it into a paste and use like you would comet.
3) Bathroom Mold and Mildew Cleaner; 4 oz. water, 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar, 3 drops lemon essential oil, 1 drop clove essential oil, 5 drops tea tree essential oil. Mix in a spray bottle, spray on tile or other surfaces and leave for 20 minutes before rinsing off.
4) Carpet Cleaner: 8 oz. bakins soda, 5 drops grapefruit oil. Mix in a jar. Cover and shake until well mixed. Then sprinkle this mixture onto your carpets. Let sit for an hour and then vacuum up.
I hope this helps!
